Yesterday afternoon, when I was cleaning up around the house, I went to grab laundry out of the dryer. I was crouched down piling up the clothing in my arms, then stood up as my back glided along the sharp corner of a counter top. I could feel the scrape through my shirt, and sure enough, I had a deep cut along my spine.
When I woke up this morning, my back was sore and the wound became more prominent. I also noticed that I have four large, purple bruises around my right knee. I don’t remember banging into anything, which leads me to think that the bruises are the result of this little girl’s biting. Quite strange!
Despite the fact that I look like I’ve been run over by a truck, I still went out with Natalie and ran a few errands this morning. We didn’t have much time, but we were able to check everything off our to-do list. A trip to Trader Joe’s was much needed for some essentials–mostly nut butters! I seriously buy about 12 jars every time I go there. I’m a little embarrassing.
For whatever reason, I am always in a rush when I’m shopping at Trader Joe’s. I feel like I’m on the game show Supermarket Sweep when I’m there. Anyone know what I’m talking about? I loved watching that show and Hollywood Squares after dinner. When I was eight. Perhaps that was the beginning of my love for grocery stores?
We also made a stop at Michaels craft store to pick up some supplies. I don’t want to say much since I’m working on a couple of projects that are being given as gifts, and I know the recipients are blog readers!
After running our errands, I was free for the rest of the afternoon and I just didn’t know what to do with myself. Like I’ve said before, I find that I’m much more productive when I have a lot on my plate. As the afternoon passed by, my workout was fading out of my future. Just when I was about to forgo any exercise altogether (and eat sugar for the rest of the day), I forced myself to get up and get moving.
Instead of driving, I walked two miles with Ali and checked on the house that I’m house-sitting. I felt much better afterward, knowing that I accomplished four miles, rather than 0 miles (and a tray of brownies). Everyone has their days when they just don’t want to go to the gym. Unless you’re exhausted because you have overdone it, I can almost guarantee that you won’t regret a workout. It’s always better to do just something!
Plus, we had a good laugh while trucking along. When we were walking down a big hill, we saw a biker making his way up. He only made it halfway up before abruptly turning around and speeding back down. (Ali and I imagined that he was saying “Weeeeeee” the entire way.) Then we saw him at the bottom of the hill, looking eager to get up it this time. Try, and try again, right? He still didn’t make it up, so this time he started even farther down the hill. This situation repeated itself one more time, and on his fourth try, he passed us while muttering that he gives up. We couldn’t help but laugh!
Time to get crafting!
