This afternoon, I met my lifetime goal: to see Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in person. Don’t judge. I had a mild obsession with them when I was younger, so I might have freaked out when I got word that they would be at the J. Mendel show today. (For the record, I’m totally in love with them again.) They are perfect.
Here is my final guest post! Thursday is my last day in the city and I actually have plans to meet Alyssa in the evening. Check out her blog—she has a lot of fun stuff going on over there!
Hi, Jimmy Choos on the Treadmill readers! My name is Alyssa and I blog over at Fashion Fitness Foodie.
I started reading Colleens blog a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it because she is from my hometown! Colleen asked me to do a guest post while she is out gallivanting in NYC during Fashion Week (um, who’s jealous? me me me) and I thought it would only be fitting to do a post on fashion – So here it goes:
I like expensive things… but with my recent move to NYC my budget doesn’t really allow for these pricey things anymore. I usually try and find something as similar as the name brand I’m digging and I will search HIGH and LOW for this item. When I want soemthing I literally have an itch that wont go away until I have it. Insanity, right?
Example: Tory Burch Boots – $500
Frye Boots $310
Steve Madden Boots: $130
Now to be honest – I’m having a hard time choosing which Tory Burch look alike I’m going to purchase… While I would like to spend $120 on a pair of boots I’m telling myself the $310 is worth the money because I’ll wear them every single day. It’s still a $200 discount so I’m winning either way :)
Boots are a staple item for people like me who have to suffer go through winter season so I thought I would share with you some of my favorite Fall/Winter staple pieces. I usually spend a tad more on a staple then I would on a trendy piece.
Scarves: They take a bleh outfit and make it pop
A colorful and comfortable pair of flats: Throw on with a white tee, boyfriend jeans and a headband
Black Coat: Something feminine and classy – Will go with ANY outfit
A good pair of Dark Wash Jeans – Have someone fit you for the perfect pair – It’s worth the money
What is your favorite fall/winter staple piece?
Come say hi and check out my blog if you get a chance :) – Thanks for letting me guest post Colleen!
I love all of the fall staples that Alyssa chose, and I too am lusting for those Tory Burch boots. Good thing there are similar pairs out there! Thanks, Alyssa!

I’m so jealous you saw the Olsen twins – When I was younger I cried when Full House ended haha
Haha they were my childhood idols so I totally understand
I cried when Full House ended, too! haha. I LOVE those flats! Where are they from? Also, where do you usually find your headbands?
The flats are from Nordstrom! Headbands? Like running? BIC. Regular? Laila Rowe or Nordstrom
Olsen twins wear sunglasses everywhere!! And I NEED those steve madden boots.
They actually only put them on once the show started…it really is bright!
AHHHHHH! You saw Michelle Tanner! I would have totally freaked out! :)
Alyssa,
I LOVE all of these fashion choices. I definitely need to pick up a new pair of boots this season. I think you totally need the Frye boots. It is an “investment!”
I couldn’t stop staring at them!
I’m totally lusting after the Tory Burch boots too. Can’t believe you saw the Olson twins. You’ve officially peaked in life! (kidding – you gots lots more ahead of ya girl ;-))
Seeing the Olsen twins set me for life. LOVE them!
I can’t help you with the boots, but I’m loving that black jacket!
